Knockdhu

Knockdhu Distillery – The Home of Elegant anCnoc Single Malt

Knockdhu Distillery, nestled at the foot of the "Black Hill" in the Scottish Highlands, is the birthplace of one of Scotland’s most underrated whiskies: anCnoc. To avoid confusion with the Knockando distillery, the single malt is marketed under the Gaelic name anCnoc ("the hill"). Since 1894, Knockdhu has stood for a modern, light, yet complex Highland style that combines traditional craftsmanship with timeless elegance.

The Flavor Profile: Citrus Freshness meets Honey Sweetness
A typical anCnoc from Knockdhu impresses with its immense purity and versatility. The distillery uses traditional worm tubs for cooling, which lends a surprising texture and depth to the otherwise light distillate:
  • The Fruity Side: Unpeated expressions are famous for their zesty citrus freshness, sweet honey, and delicate floral notes of summer meadows.
  • The Smoky Side (Peated): With specialized series, Knockdhu demonstrates how elegant Highland peat can taste, where earthy, subtle smoke meets the distillery’s signature fruity character.
  • Natural Enjoyment: Most bottlings are released without added colour or chill-filtration to preserve the full aroma and oily mouthfeel.
Why anCnoc belongs in every collection
If you are looking for a whisky that combines superior artisanal quality with excellent value for money, anCnoc is the perfect choice. Connoisseurs consider the distillery a true insider tip, offering both the ideal "easy-drinking" dram and highly complex, cask-strength rarities.
