Ardnahoe Bholsa is the second core release from the young Ardnahoe Distillery on the island of Islay and is named after the spectacular “Bholsa” caves on the island’s north coast. This single malt has been matured predominantly in Oloroso sherry casks and combines Islay’s maritime, smoky DNA with rich, sweet fruit notes. It is bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration and without artificial colouring, to ensure an authentic and intense tasting experience.
This whisky is characterized by a bold balance of earthy peat smoke, sherry sweetness, and spicy accents.
Nose: Aromas of red fruits, walnuts, and orange peel, intertwined with intense peat smoke. Notes of toffee and a sea breeze are also present.
Palate: Rich and oily on the tongue, with notes of raisins, dates, and ripe plums, underpinned by Islay peat. Nuances of milk chocolate, cinnamon, and a peppery spice emerge.
Finish: A long-lasting and warming finish with lingering peppery oak notes and campfire smoke, accompanied by dark dried fruits.
