The Ardnahoe 5 Years Cask Strength Batch 2 is a powerful Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky bottled at natural cask strength. Bottled at 61% ABV, this second batch release from the young Ardnahoe Distillery impressively demonstrates how intense, maritime and at the same time balanced the style of this distillery can already be after five years of maturation.
Hand selected First Fill Ex Bourbon casks were used for the Ardnahoe Cask Strength Batch 2. This cask maturation brings out the distillery character particularly clearly: salty sea air, earthy peat smoke, bright fruits, vanilla, cocoa and salted caramel combine to create an expressive Islay Whisky with depth and energy.
On the nose, the Ardnahoe 5 Years Cask Strength Batch 2 reveals coastal salt, earthy peat smoke and hints of cocoa. On the palate, orchard fruits, herbal tea and salted caramel follow, carried by powerful smoke and a beautiful maritime freshness. The finish is pleasantly smoky, medium to long, and accompanied by fresh citrus notes.
This Ardnahoe was bottled without chill filtration and without colouring. As a result, the whisky remains unaltered and presents the distillery’s young, smoky Islay style in a particularly pure form.
